Sir,
I have the honor to forward for your consideration the enclosed letter from Mr. Clarke of Worthy Hendering, the late Clerk of Public Works, tendering his resignation.
Mr. Niblett Burnie, the late Clerk, has worked under my instructions and, while expressing every desire to perform his duties as efficiently as any predecessor, stated how impossible he found it to comply with the requirements required from the state of his health, and inability to take the exercise demanded by the daily inspection of Public Works, frequently at a considerable distance apart.
Under these circumstances, I trust Your Excellency may be pleased to sanction Mr. Billete's request.
